Winter Weight Gain is around the corner..or is it?

As we settle back into “school season”, our summer vacations come to a close. The holidays are fast approaching, and so are the winter pounds that seem to find their way back every season. While winter weight gain is “normal”, it doesn’t mean that it’s desirable. So what do we do about it?

It’s time to step up and be proactive. Rather than let winter weight sneak up on you, prevent it from happening in the first place. Many people become less active once the cooler weather sets in, and of course, there’s the holiday eating- I know.. don’t go there. If you don’t have one already, now is the time to find an exercise routine and indoor activities to stay active during the winter.

It’s better to start now, while you’re ahead, than to wait until next spring, and start back at square one. If you have a hard time staying motivated, pick a work out buddy, and/or pay for several classes in advance. That way, you’re more likely to keep attending, since the classes are already paid for. Most important, find classes/activities that you enjoy. Don’t be afraid to try new things. You shouldn’t hate exercise. If you’re dreading your current routine, it’s definitely time to switch it up.
